What is the GEMs Giving Circle?
G.E.M.s stands for Giving Every Month and the GEMs Giving Circle is a group of activists who have made a pledge to donate a set amount annually, paid electronically in increments every month. This provides MNADV with the long term, sustainable funding required to achieve our critical mission. Every dollar goes towards our work to end domestic violence through training, technical assistance, public policy work, and legislative advocacy.
The Funding "GAP"
The vast majority of funding we receive – approximately 97% – is through grants, which specifically dictate how those funds may be used. This often leaves a gap in the budget that impacts our effectiveness and limits our voice in Annapolis. Unrestricted funds allow us to be mission driven and use dollars where they’re needed most – whether it’s for resources for local domestic violence service providers, legislative advocacy, engaging experts from the field, paying employees whose hands carry out this important work, or simply keeping our lights on.
By choosing to donate monthly and become part of the GEMs Giving Circle, you are taking concrete, proactive steps to ensure that MNADV will always be here to do the important work we are charged to do. Your support enables MNADV to look to the future and create strategic plans to meet the needs of local domestic violence service providers, community partners and the survivors they serve around the State.
Make A Pledge!
When you chose to make an annual pledge paid in monthly increments, you will see firsthand the transformative power of giving. GEMs Giving Circle Members will receive invitations to quarterly briefings on the work of the organization, special recognition at our annual meeting, and a small token of our appreciation.
Through GEMs you will help MNADV continue to work towards systems change that can stop the cycle of violence and create a Maryland where all families and relationship thrive on mutual trust and respect. When we stand boldly beside those affected and advocate for organizations that are designed to support survivors, we can bring safety an healing to those who need it most.
